Ukraine Crisis: Help Refugees on the Frontline

In Europe we are witnessing Russian tyranny as war takes root in Ukraine with lives and families torn apart in distressing scenes across the media.

At IJI we are fundraising to STAND WITH UKRAINE and in partnership with Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) International we are supporting refugees, who in their thousands, have fled their homes.

Civilians are in desperate need of emergency assistance and JRS is working tirelessly referring Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) from the war zone in Ukraine. The main focus of work is on shelter by providing temporary accommodation to IDPs on the move who wish to leave Ukraine. Roughly 35-50 persons daily are in need of accommodation as they flee violence and Jesuits are working on the ground to support them.

The Society of Jesus in Ukraine is part of the Southern Poland Province and is present in Lviv, Kiev, Khmelnytsky and Chernivtsi. With 12 Jesuits in the country, the Society runs two residences, two parishes, a retreat house, and a house for refugees. At present there is no presence by JRS in the country – so the accompaniment of IDPs is done directly by the local SJ Community.

By donating today, you can help Ukraine directly on the frontline supporting families fighting for their survival.

As well as supporting the assistance of safe passage, your donation will also go towards psychosocial support and legal assistance for refugees who have crossed neighbouring borders of Poland, Romania, Hungary, Croatia, and others where accommodation, food and health and hygiene supports can be put in place as well as the continuation of schooling through child refugee education support.

At IJI we call for an end to violence and stand with Ukraine and its refugees.

Stand with us today.
