Job vacancy: PCCP Communications Officer

Project Overview

The Promotion of a Consistent Culture of Protection (PCCP) project is the Society of Jesus’ universal strategy to contribute to the elimination of abuse in its works, in the Church, and in society at large. PCCP promotes a culture of protection, safeguarding, and wellbeing across Jesuit works, including schools, universities, and social, pastoral, and spirituality centres.
The project is based within the Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat of the General Curia of the Society of Jesus and is coordinated by Fr John Guiney SJ and Dr Sandra Racionero-Plaza.
PCCP is currently developing new global training and formation programmes and is seeking a communications officer to support the internal communications of the team and coordinate the public advocacy and promotion of its learning programmes and activities.

Role overview:

The role involves advocacy and awareness building around the activities and movement which is about safeguarding training and promoting a culture of protection and wellbeing.
The successful candidate should have a background in advocacy, communications or marketing and experience working within the non-profit sector and the area of human rights and social justice would be advantageous.

Key responsibilities:

Communicating on different social media platforms. Attending to and contributing to our website. Writing articles and disseminating informed contributions to different media outlets.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
• Multimedia and digital content creation.
• Social media management.
• Design software (such as: Canva, InDesign)
• High level of attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
• Proven ability to multitask and work within deadlines.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid team environment, with flexibility to respond to project needs.
• Fluency in English (required).

Desirable Skills and Experience:

• A background in either communications, marketing, journalism, human rights or public relations.
• Experience in safeguarding, child protection, or gender-based violence (not required but beneficial).
• Interest in and commitment to the protection of minors and vulnerable adults and the prevention of abuse.
• Proficiency in additional languages: Spanish and/or French (oral and written).
• Experience working in educational or community-based learning projects.
• Experience working with e-learning platforms.

Working Arrangements:
• Contract length: 1-year contract
• Contract type: Part-time
• Location: Hybrid
• Flexibility: Some flexibility required in line with project needs.
