Lebanon: Refuge in St Joseph’s Church

People huddle together taking refuge from bombs in St joseph's church in Beirut.

In Beirut, the doors of the Jesuit church of St. Joseph are open to host migrant workers who cannot find safety in official shelters.

Michael Petro SJ, Emergency Shelter Director at St. Joseph Parish in Lebanon, continues to share updates from the church that has once again become a refuge for those fleeing violence as airstrikes and bombardment continues to shatter communities.

Our appeal is focused on the most marginalised, whose lives were precarious even before the outbreak of war.

Michael shares how among those seeking refuge are newborn babies and children – young lives experiencing things they should never have to.
